Here is the first commercial that I ever did. I don’t have any lines and I never saw it on tv, but here it is. The long lost footage of the beginning of Dave Theune’s commercial (possibly brief) career.
I should state that my friend Mike Kauth was a big reason for me getting this commercial. I was riding via car with him to L.A. from Milwaukee, WI. We were enjoying the sites and sounds of the cross-country trip when I received a call from my commercial agent who said I had an audiiton. I think we were in New Mexico? I don’t recall, but I do know that we weren’t near L.A. I was really new to auditions at the time and didn’t realize that I could have just turned down the audition and feel comfortable that I had a good reason to do so (that being said, always do anything you can to make an audition. It could be your big break). I got kind of stressed and felt I should go to this two-minute audition. Well, Mike was a hero and drove through the night in order to get me to the Intel audition. I ended up getting a callback and booking it and I always remember Mike’s selflessness fondly. We were going to see some more sights and spend the night somewhere, but he grinded it out and got me to L.A. on time.
What a good guy.
